A turkey vulture cleans itself after a cleaning of its prey. Turkey Vultures, also known as turkey buzzard, are some of the most widespread New World Vultures, ranging from southern Canada to the southernmost tip of South America. Turkey vultures venture to Colorado and north in the summer months, returning south as cold weather closes in. The turkey vulture has a wingspan of 160–183 cm (63–72 in), a length of 62–81 cm (24–32 in), and weight of 0.8 to 2.3 kg (1.8 to 5.1 lb).
